Abel Selaocoe

South African Abel Selaocoe is not just another classically trained musician. He is undoubtedly a skillful cellist, and his interpretation of classical repertoire is refreshingly vigorous and remarkably exquisite. Meanwhile, as a talented composer and versatile performer, he combines virtuosic performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion, and has a special interest in curating recital programmes that highlight the links between Western and non-Western musical traditions, with view to helping classical music reach a more diverse audience. “Genre-bending” as BBC Music Magazine praises. Classical music indeed is not just a rigid art form: With the talents from our diverse world, we believe it can touch more hearts in more creative ways.
