One World by Sir Karl Jenkins

Celebrated composer Sir Karl Jenkins (1944-), renowned as one of the most performed living composers, takes the baton to conduct his latest masterpiece “One World” at the UNESCO Concert for Peace 2023 in Austria.

"One World," commissioned by the World Choir for Peace and the World Orchestra for Peace, addresses a world marked by fragmentation—populist governance, epidemics, climate change, human rights neglect, and war—while envisioning a harmonious, egalitarian planet. Jenkins creatively adheres to mass setting traditions, infusing diverse cultural and religious elements, drawing inspiration from texts like the Bible, Hindu Gayatri mantra, and works by Percy Bysshe Shelley, Khalil Gibran, and Carol Barratt. Boasting a career spanning decades, Jenkins stands as a symbol of musical diplomacy, using his compositions to build bridges between different musical landscapes. The piece is in perfect alignment with UNESCO's commitment to fostering global understanding through the arts, Jenkins' participation underscores the profound impact of music on promoting harmony. Enjoy!
