Hey there, music lovers! Today, we’re diving into the world of Madeline Goh, a young violinist who’s been stealing the spotlight with her violin and charm. From international competitions and performances, Madeline’s journey is as inspiring as it is melodious. Oh, and did we mention she’s also a rhythmic gymnast? Let’s get to know this multi-talented star!
The Musical Journey from 5
Madeline’s love affair with the violin began at the tender age of 5, under the guidance of Min Lee at the Wolfgang Violin Studio. At 6, she was already performing her first international solo at the closing concert of the Cambridge International String Academy in the UK back in 2013. Most of us can only dream of having that kind of confidence at that age!
Now, Madeline is honing her craft at the Mozarteum University Salzburg pre-college program, studying with Professor Paul Roczek. Over the years, she had masterclasses with pedagogues such as Milan Vitek, Ani Kavafian, Aaron Rosand, Boris Kuschnir and Shmuel Ashkenasi among others.
A Stage Full of Achievements

In 2024, she snagged second prize and the Best Virtuoso Piece prize at the International Kloster Schontal Competition—evident that her technical flair is something to behold. The year before, in 2023, she took home third prize and the young jury prize at the Zhuhai Mozart International Competition, where she performed alongside the Salzburg Chamber Soloists under conductor Lavard Skou Larsen
Back in 2022, Madeline made history as the youngest-ever winner of the prestigious Goh Soon Tioe Centenary Award. She consistently placed in the top three in the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior categories of the Singapore National Piano and Violin Competition, from ages 8 to 12. At just 10, she clinched the Intermediate category as the youngest violinist—talk about a prodigy!
She had graced the stages with several orchestras, including the Mozarteum Salzburg Pre-college Orchestra, the Philharmonie Salzburg Elisabeth Fuchs, the Female Symphonic Orchestra Austria, and the Methodist Girls School Strings Ensemble.
Her summers are just as busy, with stints at programs like the Heifetz Music Institute (where she was a Strings Fellow in 2023), the Sounding Point Academy, and the Keshet Eilon Summer Course in 2024. These experiences have given her the chance to refine her skills, collaborate with other young musicians, and draw inspiration from around the world.
A Rhythmic Gymnast with Medals
On top of her beautiful violin playing, Madeline also thrives as a talented rhythmic gymnast with prowess. In her younger years, she won team and individual gold and silver medals at national competitions for both her school and club. She even appeared on Singapore’s nationally televised program “On the Red Dot”. Balancing the precision of rhythmic gymnastics with the artistry of violin playing? That’s the kind of multitasking we can only admire!
What’s Next for Madeline?
Right now, Madeline’s deep in her studies at Mozarteum, no doubt perfecting her craft and gearing up for her next performance. Whether she’s dazzling audiences with her violin or flipping through a gymnastics routine, one thing’s for sure: Madeline’s star is only getting brighter.
