The "Brooklyn Duo" YouTube channel was created by pianist Marnie Laird and cellist Patrick Laird in 2014, featuring the married couple playing classical covers of popular songs.
Marnie and Patrick started a second YouTube channel, Brooklyn Classical, with the aim of introducing classical music to a larger audience in 2016.
Through familiar tunes of the covers, it is one of the platforms to inspire new listeners to their instruments and classical music in general.
The lockdown has no doubt let us all reminisced about the “good old days” at some point. Listening to the beautiful harmony of the cello and piano, it is nostalgic to hear some of the familiar songs again.
The same song can evoke different memories for everyone, the powerful and passionate rendition of Brooklyn Duo has certainly delivered to our hearts.
Below is their latest video, a magnificent arrangement of Ave Maria right before Marnie’s labour. Congratulations for their new baby!
