Recorder Virtuoso

23-year-old rising star, Lucie Horsch, is a Dutch virtuoso recorder player. Besides playing as solo recorder musician, she also performs in baroque ensembles, symphony orchestras and in recitals. Born into a family of professional musicians, Lucie began to study the recorder at the age of five.

In the 2021/22 season, Lucie is nominated by Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and the Cologne Philharmonie as ECHO Rising Star and as such is touring in Europe’s most prestigious halls.

As one of the leading ambassadors for the instrument, Lucie noted the likely relatable experience people have from their school music education.

“It has two sides: the good thing is a lot of people know the instrument or have some kind of connection with it from their past,” she said in an interview. “But the bad side is that usually it’s a bad memory or some kind of trauma because a lot of people were forced to play it in school.”

In this video, Lucie gave an exquisite delivery of the Irish air.
