Elegy for the Arctic

The cracking and crumbling ice drives home the environmental message as pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi plays his original piece "Elegy for the Arctic". Composed in support of a movement to preserve and protect Arctic waters, Einaudi worked with Greenpeace to produce this somber performance amidst the Arctic ice.

Born in Turin, Italy in 1955, Ludovico Einaudi began his musical career at the Conservatory of Turin, and he has composed for ballet, cinema, and theater, including the 2002 remake of Doctor Zhivago, Nomadland, and The Father in addition to his own albums such as the renowned Elements.

More recently, his album, Underwater, and other works have further adopted a natural inspiration, melding together musical experience and natural landscape.
