Coronation Music

The coronation of King Charles III was filled with pieces new and old like Iain Farrington's arrangement of Gustav Holst's 'Jupiter' from The Planets, and Sarah Class' 'Sacred Fire', sung by Pretty Yende.

Among the many wonderful performances, The Ascension Choir sang ‘Alleluia (O Sing Praises) as the first gospel choir to perform at a coronation.

Comprised of four men and four women chosen from the Kingdom Choir, a Christian gospel group based in the south-east of England, the Ascension Choir performed part 2 of a piece specially composed by Debbie Wiseman based on Psalm 47.

More performances continued the next day, with the coronation concert held at Windsor Castle with stars such as Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
